What is the Difference Between a Teflon® Heater and a Fluoropolymer Heater or PTFE Heater?
By: Lenore Polak

Question:  What do these things have in common:  Kleenex® to tissues and Teflon® to fluoropolymer?

Answer:  Kleenex® and Teflon® are trade names so popular that they are often used generically.  It is common to hear people say they need a Kleenex when they actually mean a tissue and any brand will do.

The same is true if our customers request a Teflon® heater – fluoropolymer (PTFE) heaters and Teflon® heaters are considered by many as interchangeable terms in our industry.

Fluoropolymer heaters are characterized by having a high resistance to solvents, acids and bases.  Process Technology manufactures fluoropolymer heaters in a wide range of configurations, wattages, and voltages. We can help you find one that fits your application and heating needs.

If you are looking for Teflon® heating or cooling coils, Process Technology makes fluoropolymer coils too in PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) and FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene, Propylene) materials.

Teflon® heaters, PFA, PVDF, PTFE, and FEP are all fluoropolymer coatings and Process Technology has fluoropolymer heaters and heat exchangers to fit your application.  We would welcome the opportunity to manufacture what you need, no matter what you call it!
